Shamelessly stolen from [livejournal.com profile] fuyu_no_fuheiPosting the names of all the files in my Sherlock WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Choose one (or a few, I don't care), and I will post a random line or two.

In no particular order of completion, importance, or capitalization:

  • The Light Discontinued
  • Our Hugest Home
  • writer!john
  • Derringer Sky; android!sherlock
  • Somewhere From Mars
  • there's propaganda for you
  • the grand tour of europe
  • the Heart!verse (cardiac surgery)
  • John.txt
  • angst-ridden pre-reichenbach epic
  • dust off your converse (time to see the universe) (who!crossover)
  • TONC!deleted scenes
  • ETA, I forgot: TTSSish spy!au.

... most of which are both non-descriptive and ridiculous. FML. Or my brain. Or my love for exclamation marks.

(Am now hunting down Downton Abbey season the second (which is apparently nowhere so far), fald;kalskal;sfa OH YOU BEAUTIFUL IDIOTS.)

Things this week shall be remembered by:

  • uni administration what are you doing why am I taking Swedish (actually, Swedish is quite good, but I wanted German, damnit.)
  • internet connection. What, what, what are you doing.
  • I seem to have fallen hopelessly in love with Downton Abbey.

I'll have to finish the first season before I actually review it more thoroughly, but right now I'm just flailing over Titanic and costumes and Belle Epoque and Maggie Smith and shiny things everywhere. Also, Matthew Crawley.

(Alsoalso, the music.)

So. The Wedding.

I've loved a fair few things, was disappointed by a few others, and have mixed feelings about a couple of issues — especially plot wise. ONWARDS.

Guys, if you haven't read [livejournal.com profile] errantcomment's glorious Bridget Jones!Sherlock story yet, don't wait another minute — it's hilarious, and stunningly believable, and has a scrumptious Molly. And, apparently, there's more coming. There are no words for how much I'm looking forward to it.

Secondly, Closing Time. ALL MY FEELINGS, in no sense of order whatsoever.

Dear self,

Beginning a new fic means this: taking up pen&paper and/or putting fingers to the keyboard, and then actually writing it. It does not, however, mean spending two days doing nothing but:

  • searching for inspiring screencaps/art
  • making a shiny playlist to write the story to
  • imagining nothing but the romantic/sex-related bits of the story, especially when said story is meant to be remarkably plot-driven.

No love (no seriously get down to business already you lazy sod),
Your Brain.

Also: The God Complex, though much belated. But this is Paperwork Week at university.

it's your bad dream, that's all. )

There are quite a few things to be said about The Girl Who Waited, which is exactly the reason why I'm not doing a more in-depth review of the episode the way I did for Night Terrors: I don't think I would ever get to stop. As it is, though, I do have a few remarks to mention.

Night Terrors, folks.

No separate bulletpoint lists this time, mostly because they'd be drastically overbalanced; there was just so much I adored about this episode, and so much that scared me shitless, and so much that I found resonated perfectly with DW's general theme of fairytales and childhood, that I have barely a couple derogatory things to say about it at all. Most of Gatiss' other Who episodes were a bit meh on my hand, but if Sherlock's TGG hadn't already convinced me of his talents as a scriptwriter, then this probably would have.

A few words on Let's Kill Hitler.

I watched it on telly on Saturday night (London. London was gorgeous), and then watched it again yesterday evening, which gave it focus, I think; I certainly liked it better than I did the first time around. I've still got mixed feelings on a number of things, though, and I do believe it could be very much better, especially according to Moffat's usual standards. So! Bulletpoint lists.

You know you've spent too much time in Sherlock Holmes fandom when you're writing a paper on Jan Smuts and all you keep writing is Jam Smut.

Especially when your civilization teacher loves the BBC shows and knows all about fandom.

This was a bit FAILy, self.

Whoever says that English is an easy language to study has never had an English grammar course in freakin' France. It's not about the actual language, really, but rather more about interpreting it and making inferences as to — well, this time, as the conviction and volition of the speaker, and the possibility that the process might be accomplished. Will & would are modals which introduce a condition instead of a straightforward future tense that…

Grnk.

I wish this particular grammar dissertation (I mean, seriously, who ever heard of a grammar dissertation, and what exactly is the difference between a French dissertation and an English essay, I am so confused. If I ever get to England to study one day I will be quite lost in terminology) could come with a flashy, sparkly disclaimer that went

'I HAVE NO BLOODY IDEA WHAT I'M DOING AND I RATHER HOPE THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED ME TO DO, BECAUSE I JUST SPENT THE NIGHT ON IT AND I'D PREFER NOT DOING IT AGAIN'

on it. And also some porn, because shit is boring, and she might as well have something fun to read.

arrrr. )

This is actually one week old or so, but I suppose it should figure here in among all the flailing.

Finals: ACED. Fucking yes. Excuse my French. Also:

1. I have a new laptop! it's all… there, pretty and shiny and smiling at me from my desk. I shall attempt not to break it within the first week.

2. re: The King's Speech. It was excellent. Overall well-played, well-researched, very charming and emotional, though maybe somewhat too predictable. But it was extremely well-written, sometimes touching and sometimes hilarious, and, as such, it didn't matter so much if the pace was sometimes getting lengthy. In the end, though, it didn't have much of a movie feeling but rather more of being right there with them seeing it happen; not so much in the way of a documentary, because the general mood and colours play made it quite clear it was at least partly fictional, but it could have been an artistic documentary played by famous actors, which I suppose in a way it was. I was especially charmed by the play on textures and nuances, the clean lines, the outfits — it had something so very British, all the clubs and costumes and beautiful accents ♥

3. a brief scene at the local library, occurred yesterday afternoon )

4. I am writing! Gods. Yes. That feels good.

Good morning, 2011!

Well, okay, afternoon. Er. On January 5th. But still, we all survived another year and didn't blow up any planets, which is very nice indeed.

I spent New Year's Eve drinking cheap wine and eating cheese and watching Sherlock with my best friend, which brings the number of people I've gotten addicted to this show to exactly two. (Sa', my dear, I adore you, but get your arse in gear and watch the damn show.)

My family seems to have gotten the message, too, re: SH, because Christmas got me not only the complete novels and stories, but also the Private Life and the first season of the Granada series (first impressions: Jeremy Brett has the most incredible eyebrows ever, and Burke's Watson is absolutely adorable. Especially this — 'Shh, Watson! this is srs bsns, this man is clearly quite easily flustered, will you please stop laughing — oh, sod it. BWAHAHAHAH.')

And then there's the added wonder of turning a corner whilst trying to juggle a Starbucks latte and two bags and getting a faceful of SURPRISE CUMBERBATCH.

you are crossing the street on the grands boulevards )

This is deeply disturbing, guys. Le nouveau détective du 21e siècle. Gnk.

i love how it's been like four months since i first watched this show and i still get ridiculously excited at the sight of them
falling_voices: (in the beginning the universe was create)
SO IT'S FUCKING FREEZING.

I am surviving on tangerines and Wonderfully Blue Mittens, which sounds like creative writing, and I'm going to have to get some winter boots — snow and heels, however square they may be, do not well combine. However:

Re: HP7a, JESUS CHRIST, THIS SHIT IS EFFIN' EPIC. Also, Rupert Grint rocks my socks, oh yes.

Re: Sherlock!AU, the beginning sequence hates my guts, damnit, and it's turning into a very strange character study of one John H. Watson, who is apparently an onion. Layered, I mean. And there's this utterly gorgeous Hetalia kinkmeme request of awesomeness that's calling plaintively out at me, which would be an appropriate distraction if writing it didn't involve a fuckton of history and therefore a fuckton of research. On the other hand Alternate Historylines are awesome. So.

Re: reclist, yes I know, I lied. There's more stuff to add every week, I can't help it, and Molly Hooper is wonderful. Hmm.

Re: DW Christmas Special, MICHAEL GAMBON, FUCK YEAH. And I need a TARDIS!sound ringtone like I need breathing, if only to have it setting off in the middle of an English class and see who freaks out.

Re: Picasso, oh my god are you serious.
falling_voices: (and so)
There's probably a reason why I'm not making much sense right now, and that reason is probably that I'm still howling with laughter over here. So y'all get a review!

i love stuff that doesn't make sense )

So. Yeah. I liked it. It's not the best movie ever, and it's not the best DC movie ever, for that matter (that one will always, always be the 10th), but it was nice, and a whole lot of fun, and altogether a good moment. I liked liking it, if that makes sense. (It doesn't?)
