Whoever says that English is an easy language to study has never had an English grammar course in freakin' France. It's not about the actual language, really, but rather more about interpreting it and making inferences as to — well, this time, as the conviction and volition of the speaker, and the possibility that the process might be accomplished. Will & would are modals which introduce a condition instead of a straightforward future tense that…

Grnk.

I wish this particular grammar dissertation (I mean, seriously, who ever heard of a grammar dissertation, and what exactly is the difference between a French dissertation and an English essay, I am so confused. If I ever get to England to study one day I will be quite lost in terminology) could come with a flashy, sparkly disclaimer that went

'I HAVE NO BLOODY IDEA WHAT I'M DOING AND I RATHER HOPE THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED ME TO DO, BECAUSE I JUST SPENT THE NIGHT ON IT AND I'D PREFER NOT DOING IT AGAIN'

on it. And also some porn, because shit is boring, and she might as well have something fun to read.

Re: Saturday last, I've rather come back on my moody thoughts over the last DW episode — it wasn't pure gold, and as a historical episode it doesn't hold a candle next to The Shakespeare Code or The Unicorn & the Wasp, but as comic relief, it was rather enjoyable. There were several holes that made me go /eyetwitch on Thompson, but — ah, I guess my expectations of his episode were low after the mess he made of The Blind Banker, and influenced my first viewing. I still think the siren is bloody ridiculous, and Rory's pseudo-death (again) & CPR scene (jesus, you're in the bloody TARDIS, don't fucking give up after two seconds for sheer dramatic effect) made me cringe, but on second viewing there were several things I very much liked (details, mostly, or things that had gotten unremarked).

  • Rory. Fuck, I know I keep saying that, but how awesome is Rory? 'cuddle me, shipmate.' ahahahahah. It's rare we get to see him lighthearted and taking the piss, and okay, he was under the siren's curse at that moment, but still. Also, shirtless!Darvill is pure fanservice.
  • Amy in the last bit — regardless of her bloody useless CPR — which, uh, means when Rory actually starts coughing up water, is wonderful. I do think Karen's acting's stepped up since last season; her antics as a badass pirate were fun, if a bit awkward-looking, but she really comes into her role when it becomes emotional. The images of her weeping into Rory's neck were reminiscent of her crying over the Doctor's body in The Impossible Astronaut, and struck home very well.
  • EYEPATCH WOMAN AAAAAAAAAAA YOU'RE FREAKING THE FUCK OUT OF ME JESUS CHRIST
  • 'Toby!' 'Rory!' 'The TARDIS!' OTP FOREVER.
  • The Doctor being wrong again and again was interesting, especially coming directly after this kind of opening, in which he, for once, knows less about the situation than do his companions. It's setting a rather weaker side for the Doctor, and I think I like it. I hope he'll revert to his usual self later, but for now, it's interesting.
  • 'Why me? Why do I have to save you?' 'Because I know you'll never give up.' Again, coming after the opening and Rory's confidence issues in it, this was a bit of a breather, and a relief. I hope it means they won't go that way again — one season is a-okay, two is becoming bothersome.
  • PIRATES. IN. SPACE.

Writing. Writing is strange, these days. I think I'm actually going to finish a Sherlock something, though, so it might be just as well.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAh.

THERE IS NOTHING MORE RIDICULOUS THAN A HOLOGRAPHIC DOCTOR THAT SETS THINGS ON FIRE.

I have a theory about eyepatch woman. That theory is that she is Amy's midwife-or-whatever, and that she can do freaky appearing things because Amy's pregnancy is the most effed up thing ever.

RORY!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAR. IN SPACE. IN SPACE. That was one of the unequivocally good things about this episode — its ending.

THE SIREN!DOCTOR WAS SO FUCKING RIDICULOUS. SHE'S TURQUOISE. AND SHE KEEPS PEOPLE WITH A CUT ON THEIR FINGER LYING FOREVER ON AN EXAMINATION TABLE. I mean, I can understand saving Toby or Rory, because they'd both have died, but everybody else who's just a little hurt — what kind of rubbish doctor can't see that their lives aren't threatened by it?

I've seen that theory, yeah! and it does seem plausible. (Although, still wondering — if it's true, who appointed her to it? a future!Amy, maybe?) By this time, I've read so many theories that I can't say I adhere to one, so I'm keeping my options open. :D hoping to catch tonight's episode instead of waiting until tomorrow.

RORRRRRY. RORY'S MY FAVOURITE. I love Amy & Eleven, and my affection for River is climbing steadily, but Rory is amazing. &hearts (i know i know i need to stop saying that)

AND THEN THE DALEKS TRY TO EAT THEM AND REALIZE OH FUCK, THESE ARE OLD-SCHOOL PIRATES.

Well in the siren doctor's defense, she was an alien doctor. Who knows, maybe the blood of those aliens doesn't clot or something. Maybe... aw screw it. She was awesome, but only because she was on fire.

EX-TER-MI-NA — OH CRAP. RE-TREAT! RE-TREAT! RE-TRRRRRRRRREAAAAAAAAAT!

True. Besides, if the pilot was killed because of a simple human flu virus, she might have believed that ANYTHING was dangerously lethal out there. Still, uh, she didn't convince me. Except for the fire thing. Die, villainous handkerchief.
