... of how LiveJournal managed to alienate its entire userbase because it wanted to be Facebook when it grew up. LJ, seriously, do you want us to move to DreamWidth? do you?

Well, at any rate, they're hosting a free-signing week over there now, no need for invite codes, so I've opened an account, in case LJNews continues to ignore the fifty pages and counting of people protesting and there's a mass migration. I might not come to use it, but at least it's there, and if needed I can use it to mirror the entries here.

Most of the kinkmemes I'm on have managed to circle round the problem by using Minimalist layout styles that at least allow us to use preview comments and parent threads, thankfully. So far, I think kinkme_merlin is closest to our normal comment pages, but sherlockbbc_fic doesn't seem to be doing a bad job either. (Thank everything. I browse that meme in flat view, having no parent option on threads would be horrible.)

And then of course I spent two hours trying to find a layout that would 1. be readable with the comment pages customized, 2. fit ToNC, which with its fuckton of coding doesn't fit most customized comment pages, and 3. actually look good. I've settled on this one, for now; I might switch to a cleaner, black&white one later, I dunno. Thoughts?

On the other hand, there is new (new new new) Sherlock footage.

Thanks for the heads-up about Dreamwidth. I didn't know they had limited signups, so I just made myself one too. It's almost like they planned this (CONSPIRACY THEORY TIME).

They screwed up ToNC? That does it, THEY MUST DIE!

The ficmeme I've been reading these days hasn't done anything yet. I hope they do, this is just awful.

Yeah, usually you have to either get an invite code (they're usually pretty easy to get ahold of, though), or buy an account. I rather think they saw it coming, really — there's been protest about the changes-to-come (now changes-please-to-change-back-now) for the last week or so, and DW has probably planned this open week so it could welcome all disgruntled LJ users. ):

It didn't screw up ToNC per se — but switching to customized comment pages would have screwed it up if I didn't change layouts. Hence, this new one. It's not perfect, but it's clean enough to read, and it's the widest I could find.

Which ficmeme is that? all of those I was followed have switched to either old Magazine layouts or these new Minimalist ones.

Sadly, I'd gotten behind on reading the newest prompt page on sherlockbbc_fic, and I have no idea and no way to find where I'd left off now. It's not the mods' fault, they did the best they could with the layout, but this supposed upgrade is just fucking everybody's shit up.

Il y a une manoeuvre pour importer ton compte depuis LJ! la FAQ est ici. Par contre, je sais pas si ça importe aussi les commentaires, mais au moins tu auras tout ton journal là-bas. Franchement, je sais pas si je vais déménager ou pas — il semblerait que l'équipe d'LJ soit en train d'essayer de limiter les dégats? — mais c'est toujours plus sûr d'avoir un backup si besoin est (s'ils commencent à changer les layouts en S2, par exemple...)

Je sais, c'est ce que je voulais dire pas back-up (j'ai crée mon compte quand il y a eu les grosses attaques Ddoss au printemps). DW importe aussi les commentaires.

Et maintenant ils ont changé les comment pages à non-customized alors que j'ai choisi la version customized hier. Je te conseille de surveiller ça. ):
