dear fandom; you are the best fandom.

Dear Sherlock fandom:
I fucking love you today.
Most sincerely,
Sara.
(Seriously though, I thought I'd be able to be strong and hold off on reading spoilers for at least forty-eight hours. This is the state of mind also known as: you are being completely delusional.
But the episode looks really fucking exciting, and I can't wait for Christmas vacation — both a Narnia-inspired DW Special and Scandal in Belgravia within a week of each other. It's like Moffat is trying to whack us over the head with ALL THE AMAZING.)

Date: 2011-12-16 11:03 pm (UTC)I’m just a fan of bottom!John ;; I don’t want him switching. All the other boys can do whatever the fuck they want, LOL, but he’s so cute and wonderful and I have such a John kink. Obviously I like him with Sherlock best, but, he’s just, JOHN, he deserves the world.
//fangirls
Omg Sara… that’s so weird thinking about you writing slash porn. Whattt remember those RPs we had? LOL //digs them up and laughs at them.
Make one! So I can go through all of them and roll around in your writing in glee (once more!)
Reversal? *-* John “dies”? omg…
Which reminds me, wouldn’t it be hilarious if Sherlock goes head to head with a certain gentlemen thief?
Yeah I mean 2005. It’s so confusing, which is why I’ve been putting it off since er, four years ago. My school mate was like, OMG CHRISTINA WATCH THIS, and I was like, LOOKS COOL OK SURE, except I never did. Master of Procrastination, I am.
Ohh OK. I will def. take your advice then. I always feel like I’m cheating… Like when I skip Naruto fillers (which reminds me, I have 40 chapters of manga to catch up, better do that now.) Reminds me of the days when I used to skip ahead in books ‘cause I didn’t understand (reading LotR at 10… orz)
That’s… what is it with friends-turned-lovers-then-something-bad-happens-pairings that draw us in so hard…? Doesn’t that speak a lot about our mental states (or should?)
No, no, pressure me. I’ll never write anything otherwise. * x*

Date: 2011-12-19 05:52 pm (UTC)Well, I've found this and this in terms of bottom!John reclists — if you don't know them already, you're likely to find stuff you haven't read yet in them. I think part of the reason why people adore top!John is because Watson's gone through so much flak in the decades since ACD wrote the stories; he's been viewed as the buffon and the lout for so long that many of us want to write him as slightly more in control in his relationship with Sherlock than he usually has.
Oh, dear, if it surprises you that I write slash it really has been a long time since we last talked. I've gone through quite a few fandoms since DCMK.
And yeah, John pseudo-dies in that one — it's finished, actually, it should be up sometime before Christmas. It's interesting, to reverse roles that way.
Oh, I'm pretty sure that already exists. Somewhere. In the LJ DCMK comms, maybe?
DW is mightily confusing at first, but you do get used to it rather fast; and then in order to understand everything you just go back up to the earlier episodes. :D If you don't start with s1, s5 really is best because it draws a clean slate after the entire plot arc of the previous seasons, but there will be some parts you won't get. You're entirely welcome to ask me for data, btw.
I have no idea. It's a trope that just works, I guess. In the case of TSN it also involves betrayal! traps! lawsuits! and basically a lot of angst. Delicious, delicious angst.
Oh! okay then. WRITE, CHRISTINA.

Date: 2011-12-20 08:51 pm (UTC)No no, it's not necessarily surprise! Just oddness. I've never read your slash before, but you were writing them even when I knew you (xxxHolic, I think?)
I've been in a few slash pairing fandoms lately. Sooooo weird haha. I'm generally such a het person.
Link me? When you're done posting it up.
I went to watch the second Sherlock Holmes film yesterday. I got angry at how... Cheesy the ending was lol... I was like, just have him die already!!! All the not-very-subtle 'maybe he's alive' hints got annoying. But it was exciting, in the way Hollywood films often are. Slow action bomb explosions and all that.
And Watson was handsome, so so so handsome. //swoons
And all the slash hints omg. 'Lay with me, Watson!' //holds out hand while in drag
I thinking will start with s1, I'm just picky like that. Did you know, I watched 500 eps of dcoman. No, really. In like 2 months. I think I'm sick of it now LOL but I did it. //proud
All my pairings are like that lately. I mean, the whole Naruto storyline focuses on that one plotlne.

Date: 2011-12-22 01:36 pm (UTC)I dabbled a bit in xxxHolic, yeah. It was still, man, quite a few years ago. TBH, I really don't care much if it's slash or het — I like genderbending characters so they're femslash too — I just enjoy their dynamics. Concerning Sherlock, my interpretation of Sherlock himself is that he's mostly asexual, which gives yet another curve to a romantic relationship with John. It's interesting.
Sure. It's in beta right now.
I can't see that movie until next month, sadly, unless I manage to find an alternative before then, but the spoilers sound... well. Interesting? Explosive. Very very gay. It sounds like fun! I don't like the Ritchie!verse quite as much as I do the canon!verse or the bbc!verse, but that subportion of the fandom is very nice and friendly, and there's been quite a lot of fantastic stuff written there, which makes up for the movies being a bit average.
