Yesterday? first day at uni. It felt a little (read: terribly) frightening to start up at a new school, especially considering that I've spent the two years after high school safely wrapped up in a safety cocoon of a specialized class, so I was more than just a little nervous. (I hate, hate, hate that feeling. I'm a pretty sociable person, but arriving somewhere where everyone knows one another but no one knows you is terrifying whichever way you look at it.)

Just as I left my dad said something along the lines of Allez, vas-y, which pretty much translates to Go on now.

And because it was a perfectly logical thing to answer to that, in French, I muttered Allons-y while stepping out the door.

... and then I burst out laughing.

Thanks, Tenth Doctor. <3

Urgh, that's why I hate the beginning of the school year. Even if I do know other people in the class, unless they're my really close friends then I'm trembling like a leaf. And the whole everybody else knowing everybody else thing is so terrifying it should be banned, or something. It's small enough here that even if people went to different elementary schools, it's likely that their parents know each other or they were involved in activities together, and then there's only two middle schools and two high schools, so that six years later I still feel a little like an outsider.

Ten makes everything better. I'm writing a satire on time travel and I'm going to involve the fact that we have a mad science teacher named John Smith.

... you have a science teacher named John Smith. Seriously.

(Does he have any idea how some people might react to that?)

Well he's actually sort of short, chubby, and balding so it isn't an obvious thought. He does however often have black marks on his head from either whiteboard erasers or explosions, you can't actually tell. He also has a reputation as the most insane, terrifying, brilliant science teacher in the school.

Unfortunately I had yet to discover Doctor Who when I had him as a teacher, so I could not fully appreciate it.
