also i am very tired just so you know
I've been off to Belgium for the last few days, which was lovely but exhausting as hell — so was the mad run for my train two minutes before departure, really — and somehow I've managed to bring back nothing but Belgian marzipan, which doesn't seem much different from French marzipan, and Mark Gatiss' The Vesuvius Club, which looks incredibly cliché but enormous fun, and also very very gay.
It's been a bit of a last haven for me, this half vacation, since uni starts up again this week — I have to meet with my (hopefully) potential study director over my master thesis tomorrow morning; the Granada!SH study, that. I have absolutely no idea how it'll go down, as Doyle's not much for Classics. Then again, Sherlockian theses are all over the place.
So now I'm going to huddle in my bed and watch The Girl Who Waited, which I've missed, and catch up on the Sherlock ficmeme and nibble marzipan, and try to keep these precious few hours I've got left before uni strikes down again. Social awkwardness, what is that.

*Bounces on* Dude, that sounds fun! Good luck!

Yeah, it's a stupid amount of fun and brilliant and awesome (and yeah, pretty damn gay XD). The other two books aren't anywhere near as good, in my opinion, but they could be worse, I suppose. (I sort of can't stand the majority of things in The Devil in Amber, but at least Black Butterfly comes more or less up to scratch again.)
But oh man, you're reading The Vesuvius Club, I HOPE YOU LIKE IT ASDF;KSJ
(Actually that raises an interesting point - I've never actually read that book, just listened to the audiobook. Which, being read by Mark Gatiss himself, is about twelve different kinds of fantastic. 8D)

Also holy shit, the audiobook is read by Gatiss? would you happen to have a link to that? because damn.
no subject
Yes, yes I would happen to have a link. To the thread at the sherlockbbc Post of Dubious Legality, to be precise, just to reveal my sources.
According to an inference from Gatiss' twitter, I think he may have recorded audiobooks of the other two Lucifer Box novels as well, but the third hasn't yet aired on the radio...? Something like that. But yes, The Vesuvius Club is the only one I've managed to get my hands on. I really need a copy of the book, though, I do adore it so. :D

Gonna listen to it first, and then read the book cover to cover for some better comprehension, I guess. (It was really surprising, finding it randomly in a little run-down Belgian bookshop, in the minuscule 'english books' section. :D)

Ooh, are you just starting up uni? How lucky. I've been back for about a month now, and you know, I'm still not used to it. My alarm goes off in the mornings and I'm like, what is that dreadful noise and why won't it stop
The Girl Who Waited alsdjf;lajdfladjflasdjfla I hope you like it; I loved it ♥

Not so much just starting than waiting for my classes to start — I've been coming and going between professors to get a clear idea of my thesis and my seminars and whatnot, but the courses themselves don't start for another two weeks. It's just a big load of admin hell. D:
IT WAS AMAZING. MORE FEELINGS ON THAT LATER, I'M OFF TO WATCH CONFIDENTIAL.

Admin hell D: I hope it works out! my uni sent me an email about a month ago about some liberal arts class they're offering over the winter and apparently they're going to france. strasbourg, i think, and i want to go but i can't afford it :\ plane ticket + hotel fees + actual tuition... i wish i had money.
WASN'T IT JUST. I LOVED IT SO MUCH, I DON'T EVEN HAVE WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW MUCH I LOVED IT.

awww, man ): strasbourg isn't a very pretty town, though, tell yourself that. and save your money for when they propose to take you to paris :D

Oooooh!

(Belgium is really lovely, especially Bruxelles. Lots of little fairytale brick houses. :D And they have the best fries in Europe.)

That's funny, because I've always wondered how different life and culture were up there, in Scandinavian countries — I expect it differs according to the country itself, of course, but we do see it as a generally similar way of life here — and it's just weird that it should be so different. I'm glad you're doing fine. :D have you come to Paris yet?
Also, not more heat these last few days, thank god.
no subject
Ah yes yes yes yes. It's mostly the people and school that's different. school on Saturdays is my mortal enemy and there is nothing I miss more than a proper weekend. and so long days ughhh.
I arrived in Paris, actually, but it was super-quick so I just got a quick ride around the town. Saw the Eiffel tower and such. but we're going back later \ o /
OH god no suddenly it's really cold.
